POLXF: A Business for Free

Polydex Pharmaceuticals, Ltd (POLXF) is a simple story.  They own their building worth ~$3M.  They have $1.6M in cash and a BV of $5.7M, yet the market cap is ~$3M.  This is one of many stocks I wish I owned more of.

You could shut down operations, sell everything, and turn a profit.  On top of that we have a business that did $4.9M in revenue last year with net income of $230k.

When you see a stock like this it's a dying business, or at least the public thinks it's dying.  Why else would it be priced less than hard tangible BV like that.  CVV is priced similarly.  You have to decide for yourself what may happen in the future.

POLXF Buyout Arb

 POLXF announced a buyout from BioSpectra last month 4/27 for $2.017 per share of common.  The stock sits at $1.74 which I think is too low.  16% just waiting for you to pick it up.

NoName Annual Performance 2023-2024

This year I gained 5.1%, bringing my CAGR to 33% since buying my first stock 11 years ago. I'm super happy and proud of my long term record, though losing to the S&P the past 4 years straight isn't great. I've been treading water recently and hopefully next year changes that.

My Portfolio July 2016

I started this blog with the intention of posting an article about each stock purchase not long after I made it.  Well I have utterly failed.  I would love to blog more, not only for my readers but also myself.  I get to know, and remember, a company much better after writing so it's a big benefit to me personally to go through the blogging exercise.  Unfortunately life gets in the way.  I have a wife, kids, house, dog, full time job unrelated to stocks, '67 Firebird restoration a decade old, etc so I have to just accept my limitations. I've been averaging a little more than a post per month and that'll likely continue

This post is just going to be a list of my current portfolio.  I thought people out there might be interested.  I plan on writing posts on all of these stocks but who knows when I'll get to it.  I do have a post planned this week but 'planned' does not equal 'completed' so we'll see

Goodbye to a Legend

I am sad to say my mentor has passed.  After an almost two year battle with cancer he's moved on to a pain free place.  To his wife, family, and friends: I'm so sorry for your loss.  He was a great man, always open and eager and honest.  Till I see you again, my friend.

One of the greatest to ever invest is gone.  Let's celebrate him!
